High Awards for Boutari Company at the 17th Thessaloniki International Wine Competition

The first position in the ranking list of the wineries participated in the 17th Thessaloniki International Wine & Spirits Competition took Boutari Company, receiving a wide range of medals and awards. The awards ceremony was held on March 11 in Egli Zappeion in the presence of important personalities of Greek, wine industry.
 
Once again Grande Reserve Naoussa Boutari stands out for two exceptional vintages: 2011 which received the Grand Gold Medal and a special award as the best dry red single variety Xinomavro and vintage 2013 that won a Gold Medal, highlighting the great value, the high quality and the consistency that characterize it and rank it among the most important Greek wines over time.
 
Moreover, its first great awards received Oropedio, the latest creation of the Boutari Winery, winning not only a Gold Medal, but also the special award as the best Moshofilero of 2016. Oropedio is a dynamic expression of the Moshofilero variety, an excellent white wine, from selected vineyards of the plateau of Mantinia, a result of 25 years continuous research and experimentation of Boutari Winery.
 
Also, a Gold Medal received the recently launched aged wine: Vinsanto Boutari Gold 2002, while Silver Medals won:  Santorini Boutari 2016, the new Rosé Xinomavro 2016 and Boutari Legacy 2012, another excellent xinomavro, marking the great expertise of Boutari Company in this variety.
 
The International Wine and Spirits Competition of Thessaloniki is organised by the Wine Producers Association of Northern Greece. The Competition’s main objective is to present the variety of international quality wine and spirits production to professionals and the general public and acquaint foreign wine professionals with the exciting developments in Greek wine production.

During the Competition which is organized under the auspices of the O.I.V. (International Organization of Vine and Wine), Greek and foreign wine tasters (enologists, sommeliers and journalists) taste wines and spirits from Greece and abroad for 3 days.

The ‘Thessaloniki International Wine and Spirits Competition’ is constantly growing and so is the amount of participating wine and spirits producers and the quality of the samples submitted, giving strong evidence that is has become a major institution for Greek wine and Spirits.
